Radar the Beagle, in my favorite Fast CAT photo of 2024

2024 was a busy year for dog sports! I had a goal of photographing 15 dog sports events, with at least 12 of them being Fast CATs. And I am so proud to say that I achieved that goal!

I uploaded 20,112 finished photos this year, and culled countless others — I estimate over 100,000 photos didn’t make the cut.

I spent 44 days shooting.

I took 27 flights and drove 12,434 miles in my personal car.

I photographed 1 agility event, 1 barn hunt event, and 13 Fast CATs in 2024. 6 events were on the East Coast (primarily in Western and Northern New York) and 9 were in the Midwest and West. I went all over the place this year!

All this travel did come at a price though, both financially and metaphorically. For my own sanity and my net income, I have made the difficult decision to cut back on the number of events I take on, as well as the distance I will travel to photograph events.

But onto some favorite photos and moments from the year!

I really loved my Fast CAT bag grab photos this year! Bag grab photos are usually my favorite because they truly capture the dog’s personality and tell a story:

You already know that my favorite sports photos are the ones capturing the dogs and their humans having fun together. I loved capturing so many dog/handler teams this year and I feel so fortunate to have photographed these sweet moments:

The March Loyalhanna Agility Club event in Pennsylvania was my first time shooting an agility trial and it was a lot of fun! I don’t do agility with my own dogs (yet), so I learned a lot about the sport by photographing this trial!

I hadn’t photographed barn hunt in a while, so the Central Bark event in April was a lot of fun! With two rings running concurrently, it was a busy trial and I was super impressed with the club’s effciency.

And I would be remiss if I didn’t share a few photos of my own dogs from this year. Annabeth and Ginsburg accompanied me to a few of my events. Ginsburg earned her FCAT2 in Dunbar, West Virginia and Annabeth earned her DCAT in Aurora, Colorado.

2024 was a busy year for dog sports photography! I feel so lucky and grateful for the opportunity to photograph you and your dog this year!

Cheers to another great year in photography in 2025!

If you need a photographer for an upcoming event, please send me an email as soon as possible so I can reserve the dates. I photograph all dog sports between Buffalo, NY and Albany, NY; and Fast CAT within a 7 hour drive of Geneva, NY.

I do make some travel exceptions, so if you'd like me to photograph an event outside of this radius, feel free to email anyway.
