I was lucky enough to photograph the first ever North Country Kennel Club Fast CAT in Clayton, NY this summer and can I just say, what a flawless event! I had no idea it was the club’s first Fast CAT until the end of the weekend when someone told me!

The venue was great. Cerow Park in Clayton was large and flat and made a great course for the dogs. No tripping, no crashing into the back of the fence, and fast running dogs. My dogs got some awesome times at this event!

I think my favorite photos of this event are the ones with the funny faces. There were several Bloodhounds and a Basset Hound who ran, and with all that extra skin, there were definitely a ton of ridiculous expressions!

Obviously I can’t forget the non-hound faces because there were some very expressive non-hound dogs too:

Some of my favorite Fast CAT shots are the photos of dogs and their humans. One of my mottos is take more photos WITH your dog and so I always try to capture photos of dogs and their humans during dog sports events.

I got fewer photos of dogs and humans together at this event, but still managed to get some that show the relationship people have with their dogs. That’s the best part of dog sports: enjoying spending time together and building your relationship with each other.

This was such a great Fast CAT event and I am so grateful to the North Country Kennel Club for having me! I hope to photograph many more events in New York and along the East Coast in the coming years!
