Sport Dog of the Week: Lula the All American

Lula the Labra-heeler began as the tiniest puppy in an accidental litter of 15 puppies. It was not a given little Lula would even survive, but this litter fighter is not just alive—she is thriving!

Meghan, Lula’s owner, describes Lula as the “hardest working, most athletic little dog I have ever owned”. Lula is loyal and eager to please and as a Labrador/Heeler mix, it’s no surprise that she is quite sporty!

Lula and Meghan love to play fetch and frisbee, and you can find this little team competing in Fast CAT, Scent Work, and Disc Dog in Northern New York and beyond. Lula has earned her BCAT and TKN and I have no doubt that there will be more titles soon.

Meghan got into dog sports as a way to bond more deeply with Lula, and it has clearly worked well! Lula and Meghan adore each other and really are so in sync.

To someone just starting out in dog sports, Meghan recommends two simple things: “don’t give up and don’t forget to play with your dog”. The best part of having a dog is the bond you share, so remember that as you get involved in the world of dog sports!
